WKRD The Cove (also known as WKRD The Cove Rock Radio) is a family-friendly FM and internet-based radio station based in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2000 by Lee and Carol Wastler under the Cove Enterprises Broadcasting Company, WKRD is the flagship station of a regional network offering genre-focused programming across multiple platforms and formats. The station’s slogan, “The Cove Rocks,” reflects both its musical identity and its geographical roots in Morrisons Cove.

WKRD blends classic and modern rock from the 1960s to today, offering both live DJ programming and automated streaming, including original comedy content and listener interaction. It is available across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Mexico through various platforms including web browsers, mobile apps, Alexa, and Roku.

History

WKRD The Cove was launched in 2020 with the goal of delivering high-quality rock programming to local and global audiences. Created by Cove Enterprises Broadcasting Company, the station emerged from a desire to bring music, storytelling, and community engagement together under one immersive radio experience.

The founders, Lee and Carol Wastler, envisioned a station that could maintain the soul of traditional rock radio while expanding into the digital space with on-demand features and interactive programming. The station’s pirate-themed branding and the “Cove” concept pay homage to the scenic Morrisons Cove region of Pennsylvania.

We started in Williamsburg, Pa with just the hosting and domain's1997 with an office in a basement.

We then bought CoveComm in 1999. 

Than bought our first radio station WKRD in 2000 and grew it to a world wide radio station. 

In 2022 We moved to Roaring Spring PA to a larger office.

In 2023 We bought WKRC Pittsburgh's Country Station.

2024 We baught WWJD The Star Radio Station and started WKRD Label and Recording Studio. 

2024 Aquired Music Publishing Rights.

In 2025 We started a fun little hangout for music lovers RockersConnect and Moved our offices and recording studio to Altoona, PA.
